In February 2019, Williamson was criticised for saying that the Labour party was being “demonised as a racist, bigoted party”, partly because, in response to claims of anti-Semitism, the party had “given too much ground (and) been too apologetic”. He has had the whip removed and he has been suspended from the Labour Party.
